Alan John Kyerematen was born on October 3, 1955, in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He is the brother of Bridget Kyerematen-Darko, a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics. Kyerematen received his early education at Kumasi Academy and Achimota School before going on to study at the University of Ghana. He later pursued further studies at the University of Minnesota, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Development Economics.
