Early Life and Education
Arturo Sarukhan was born on September 14, 1963, in Mexico City, Mexico. He comes from a family with a strong tradition of public service and diplomacy. Sarukhan attended the prestigious Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations. He later went on to complete a Master’s degree in U.S. Foreign Policy at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Early Career
After completing his education, Sarukhan began his career in the Mexican Foreign Service, where he held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as Chief of Staff to the Ambassador of Mexico to the United States.
Ambassador to the United States
In 2007, Arturo Sarukhan was appointed as the Ambassador of Mexico to the United States by then-President Felipe Calderón.
